Dr. Jamie Segraves, Head of School

Dr. Segraves came to Clariden from St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School in  Alexandria, Virginia, where she served as the Associate Head of Upper School. She holds a B.A. in Spanish from The University of Texas at Austin, an M.A. in Spanish from Middlebury College, an M.S. in Linguistics from Georgetown University, and an Ed.D. in K-12 Educational Leadership from Seton Hall University.

A native Texan, Dr. Segraves was born in Houston and grew up in Kingwood. She began her full-time independent-school career in Maryland at St. Paul’s School for Boys in 2009 after teaching at the university level at Georgetown University and George Washington University. Prior to working at St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School, Dr. Segraves also gained experience at The Wardlaw + Hartridge School (Edison, New Jersey), Montclair Kimberley Academy (Montclair, New Jersey), and St. Paul’s School for Boys (Brooklandville, Maryland). At these schools, she has served in a variety of leadership positions including: Upper School Service-Learning Coordinator, World Language and English Language Learner Department Chair, Director of Global Experience, Interim Global Studies Director, and Associate Director of Upper School.

In each of these school communities, Dr. Segraves has had a significant impact on these institutions because of her commitment to improving the lives of students and faculty, diversity and inclusion, fundraising, program development, faculty evaluation, and professional growth. It is apparent that at each of these institutions, she helped advance culture and curriculum, and that she remains on the forefront of innovation in the field of education.
