Our Commitment to Safety and Security

The Clariden School is committed to the safety of our students and staff. Our top priority is providing the safest possible environment for our students and staff by taking proactive steps to secure our school. We want to ensure they have a safe place to learn, work, and grow. Clariden continues to implement best practices for school security and emergency preparedness planning to safeguard the Cougar community. Thanks to our generous donors, Jo Ann and Greg Swienton, proud grandparents to three current students, for recently investing over $2M in campus safety and security improvements.

For the safety of our community, individuals visiting our school must check-in with the Front Desk inside the Administration building. No other building on campus is accessible to the public and entry will be refused unless the individual can show proof of check-in (current Raptor name tag). All exterior doors are locked at all times (doors auto lock immediately upon shutting) and building access is only granted through proper authorization.

Clariden uses Raptor Visitor Management System on campus to strengthen our campus safety program for students and faculty. Part of keeping students and faculty safe is knowing who is in our buildings at all times, and the “Raptor” system will allow us to do that. The “Raptor” system will better allow us to screen visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our school and provide us with a safer environment for our students and staff.  If you would like to learn more information about “Raptor”, please click here.

ALICE empowers individuals to participate in their survival using proactive options-based responses. ALICE is an acronym for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate. Clariden has gone to great lengths to understand exactly what each option entails and has implemented these safety strategies in age- and ability-appropriate ways.

Our faculty and staff have been fully trained on the ALICE strategies through online classes and hands-on training with our local ALICE Certified Instructor.  If you would like to learn more information about ALICE, please click here.

The Clariden School has been assigned a Security Resource Officer (SRO) from the Southlake Police Department.  The officer is permanently assigned to our campus and will be on-site daily for the safety and security of all Clariden students, faculty and staff.

In Fall 2022, we opened our new, state-of-the-art Upper School STEAM building. Aside from the transformative education it will provide our students, the entire building is an ICC-500 rated storm shelter enclosure. The building is sized to house the entire Clariden population in the event of severe weather, greatly adding to student safety.
